Restock Mounding

Forestry

Restock mounding is an essential step in preparing previously harvested forestry sites for successful replanting.

By creating raised planting mounds, the soil is improved for young trees, providing better drainage, warmer soil conditions, and reduced competition from surrounding vegetation.

Using specialist low ground pressure forestry excavators, we can carry out restock mounding efficiently while protecting sensitive ground and minimising soil disturbance. Our equipment allows us to work effectively across soft, uneven, or challenging terrain commonly found on forestry sites.

Each site is carefully assessed to ensure the correct mound spacing, placement, and ground preparation method is used. This helps improve tree establishment rates while maintaining soil health and protecting the wider environment.

All restock mounding work is carried out in accordance with Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS) best practice, ensuring your woodland is prepared responsibly and ready for long-term growth and sustainable management.
